Study the extract of the survey of India Map Sheet No.45 D/10 and answer the following question:  

( a )  Give the meaning of the conventional symbols printed on the map of the following six-figure grid references:

I)                   197036

II)           191116

Ans. I)  Relative height of the embankment is 6m.

         II)  Temple deranged.

(b (b) Give the four-figure grid reference of one prominent example of each of the following:

I)                   Pipeline in the north–eastern part of the map.

II)                Rock outcrop, in the south-western part of the map.

(c (c)  What is the compress direction of Bagheri, 2002 from Hanumanji ka mandir, 2208?

Ans. South West.

(d (d) Name the type of drainage pattern found in grid square 2209.

Ans. Trellis pattern.

(e (e)  What are the brown lines covering most of the map extract called?  What do these brown lines indicate?

Ans. Contour lines - all places having the same height. Brown lines indicate the same height as the sea level.

(f (f)   What do the words “falls 25m” in grid square 2307 mean?

Ans. The height of the fall is 25m.

(g (g) (I) What would be the main source of water supply for Mount Abu?

(II) Give a reason for your answer.

       II)   {Please give a reason according to your view}

(h  (h)   There are no roads connecting Mount Abu to the settlements in the southwest. Why?

Ans. Because they are covered by dense jungle with bamboo. They are forested land with strip slop.

(I)   Calculate the area of land enclosed within easting 17 and 21 and northings 05 and 09.

Ans. 17-21 = 4 grid = 8cm

         05-09 = 4 grid = 8cm

                     = 8*8 = 64 sq. km

 (j)    Comment on the nature of the well in grid square 1806.

Ans. Blackish means water is not fit for agriculture and drinking.

(k)  Name any two types of forested regions mentioned in the map extract,

   Ans.  I) Dense mixed jungle with bamboo.

II) Fairly dense mixed jungle.

(l) What is the settlement pattern of the largest town on the map extract supplied to you?

Ans. Nucleated Pattern.

(m)  Describe the nature of roads connecting Gautam Maharishi Mandir 2007 and Shri Vashisht Ashram 2207

Ans. Pack Track connects both the roads because red dated lines join both temples.
